It's the same size and weight as the traditional 100 Rupees coin that is 44 mm & 35 gram.

It takes a few months or sometimes more than a year for coins to be available for public bookings even after they are released in official functions. We have to wait and watch patiently

sir,Booking of this precious coin set will begin from 19/07/10 as per advertisement published on today's Ananda Bazar Patrika. The price fixed by the mint authority is much higher. For proof coin its Rs 2740/ and uncirculated set its 2310/-. I dnt know the difference between proof and uncirculated coin exactly. can u help me which one is wise to book ? proof or uncirculated ? with regards. Rajen

Yes Rajen, I have heard that bookings of 4 coin sets,i.e., Annadurai, Rajendra Prasad, Mother Teresa and Tagore will start tomorrow in Calcutta mint. I just don't publish a blog post until the actual bookings starts.

The major difference between UNC and Proofs are that UNC coins are (generally) 'circulating legal tenders' whereas Proofs are without any exception 'non-circulating legal tenders' made for collectors only as specimen. Also their minting processes varies. Unlike UNC coins; Proof coins are polished to create deep mirror fields and are struck twice manually. You can see the Proof coin minting process in our site's video gallery.

I personally collect only UNC coin sets and not proofs because proofs are expensive and not real coins.

There are many collectors who haven't received this coin sets yet especially those who booked during re-booking period. So don't worry and keep your eyes peeled for a courier guy with a green envelope :)
