The government is planning to release a coin commemorating 1000 years of the Big Temple, Thanjavur. A function is being held on 25/26 September 2010 in the Big temple premises where in it is expected to be released. Please refer to the online edition of the Hindu dated 8 August 2010.

The government released a five rupee coin commemorating the completion of 1000 years of the 'Thanjavur Big Temple'. The details of the same are available in the online edition of The Hindu dated 27 September 2010.

I have heard unconfirmed reports that the NCLT coin is of 1000 Rupees denomination with metal composition of 80% silver, 20% copper.

in tamil news paper they say 5 rupees coin

but there are two coins small coin is 5 rs and big coin ?

100 Rs or 1000 Rs

@Anoop  Press reports of all commemorative releases report only the denomination of the circulating commemorative (CC) coin as only CC are given to the public and press attending the release. You can see press archive of PTI for other commemorative releases for example.

@Mohamed Nope, no official news yet....Only hear say of collectors claim it to be a 1000 Rupees NCLT. By size it appears to be a 100 Rupees coin to me. Gotta wait till the booking starts.

Our Facebook page member Niket Bubna confirms that Notification No. G.S.R. 771 (E) in the Gazette of India, notified on September 21, 2010 declares the NCLT coin is indeed of 1000 Rupees denomination :)

No, the bookings hasn't started. You'll see an ICN blog post when it starts.

Since the coins in presentaion sets have Bombay mint mark, the Bombay mint in all probability will take the public bookings.

Not possible to buy one right now but in next few days/months Bombay mint will issue the single coin card and there is high probability that RBI will issue the 5 rupees coin as circulating commemorative.
