Following are the copper-nickel 2 Rupees obverse varieties based on size and design of the Ashoka column:



Type A: Ashoka column 15mm tall.

Type B: Ashoka column 14mm tall.

Type C: Ashoka column 13mm tall.

Type D: Ashoka column 13mm tall. Re-cut die.

Type E: Ashoka column 13mm tall. Damaged die.

what is meaning of re cut die and how to identify it

Re-cut die in easy terms means redesigning of an existing die which in this case is Type C.

You can identify it by comparing the pictures I have posted. Look at the glaring difference in chest hair pattern of the lions in Type C & D.
