Wow, I've never seen one of those! Nice coin!  I need to research it and try and get it.

I hadn't seen this too and I was surprised such a coin was there. It was issued just for two years in 1824 and 1825 and comes in 2 types. It's listed in Krause too under Madras Presidency. The series comes in 1, 2 and 4 pies.

These coins are extremely underappreciated. Recently, a good specimen sold for under $70.

It's an irony that common 1/4 annas sell on ebay for twice more than this coin, that is very hard to find.

The coin featured in the picture came back MS 62. There is no historical sales information available about this coin in Business strike at any big auction houses, so I dont know how to value it. Only proof strike information is available, that too from 2008(I believe the first coin is a MS incorrectly attributed as a PF). I have heard the proof of this coin is very very hard to find than the business strike.

You are absolutely right BC; very under-appreciated coin. Although, I have seen a few of this 1825 series coin in mint state.... yup slabbed.....

XF coins sells ~50 USD; but it should be worth more than that!
