Mumbai mint has temporarily taken off Subramaniam coin sets from online booking page as they are having trouble in payment gateway. I assume booking would resume as soon as the gateway problem is resolved.

It depends on what you want: Investment? In general, proof coins have been better for Investment in Indian modern coinage. Of course, the price could go down or up like any investment. Collection? Collect what you like! Some people like to collect bottle caps from Pepsi bottles... do they have value? No, but the collector is happy. Same way, you can collect what you like. The proof coins are too shiny and unnatural to some people and they do not like them. Some people like the fact that the detail is easier to see in a proof coin. It is totally personal opinion.

From all my information, it may take at least 6 to 7 months. I booked the proof coins for Rabindranath Tagore way back in August 2011, and I am still waiting for the delivery. Thats where I am a little jealous with Mumbaikar friends who can get these over the counter there.

Hi I live in Mumbai & have Rxd C Subramaniam Set by Speed Post. The Postman has asked me to Pay Octroi @3%. I am confusd as Octori is levied for goods coming into Mumbai. Here I am buying coins from Mumbai Mint. Also earlier when i used to collect my coins from Mumbai Mint ( to save on postage charges), No octori was collected by Mint. 1. So Pl clarify if Octroi is payable within Mumbai? 2. If Yes, then How to save Octroi? Thanks
